Edifier TWS5 Review

Welcome to our Edifier TWS5 Review. We recently wrote an article covering the TWS1’s. When we got the chance to take a peak at these Edifier TWS5’s we couldn’t say no!

Full disclosure, these where sent to us and weren’t paid for with our own cash. We’ll always be fair and give an honest review. So now that’s out of the way, let’s take a look at our Edifier TWS5 Review.

Spoiler alert: They’re a bit better than the TWS1’s but then again they are more expensive.

Edifier TWS5 Review – First Impressions

First impressions count. Even more so on impulse purchases, so my first thought was that I really love the matt black case! It’s the complete opposite of the Edifier TWS1’s case that I reviewed recently.

The packaging (as it was on the TWS1’s) is really good. It feels sturdy and the headphones inside are well protected from any drops or falls during transit. So far so good then! But let’s have a look at the features in a little bit more detail.

Edifier TWS1 – What’s in the box?

  • Edifier TWS5 Earbuds
  • Matt Black Charging Case
  • Micro USB Charging Cable
  • 3 X Earbud Size Adapters
  • Instruction Booklet

Everything you need to get set up quickly is included in the box. The cable, as with other cables in the TWS range is short (I wish it’d be a bit longer) but adequate.

I plugged it into my USB hub and it was just long enough to allow me to place the case on my desk rather than allow it to dangle!

The good news is that, you could use any other micro USB cable you have laying around. I use Anker Micro USB cables as I find they are excellent!

Edifier TWS5 Review – Full Features

On paper these Edifier TWS5 Earbuds have amazing battery life. It seems Edifier have concentrated on giving the user a great audio experience that is capable of lasting up to 32 hours!

That’s outrageous although it’s down to the matt black magnetic charging case. The case can fully charge the ear-buds three times, giving a total of 32 hours.

There’s also an automatic on/off switch when you remove the headphones from the charging case. Sometimes if removing the headphones quickly and putting them in my ears the headphones failed to connect automatically. The AirPod’s do that on occasion too, so no real issue there.

The Earbuds have an internal microphone embedded into the earbud, it’s really sensitive to enable it to pick up your voice a lot easier and make calls clearer.

Call audio quality is excellent but when it’s really windy they don’t stand a chance and neither would other headphones to be honest.

How Do They Sound?

The sound quality is great, these TWS5’s feature a 6mm driver. This results in a brilliant audio performance with superb bass depth and high-frequency tones.

They offer an even, well rounded sound that you can really crank up if you feel the need too. Although I’m no audiophile (but do know a fair bit about audio!) so can’t describe the audio profile in great detail but to me they sound a fair bit better than the TWS1’s but not as good as the old faithful AirPods (gen 1).

Comparing them to the AirPods may be slightly unfair though, as they are almost double the price of the Edifiers.

How Comfortable Are They?

In our review of the TWS1’s we had real trouble with finding a comfortable size eartips but the TWS5’s are a lot more comfortable than the other model.

They come with three ear tip sizes so you’ll be able to find a size to suit whatever size ear you have!

Whichever size you choose will be a pretty tight fit (but not overly so) which means there isn’t any danger of them coming loose when jogging or cycling.

Edifier TWS5 Review – How Much Are They?

They’re available from Amazon for between £60 – £70 / $60 – $75. You can check the latest price on Amazon here. For comparison the TWS1’s are around £49.99 / $49.99.

The price vs performance difference is exactly where I’d have expected it to be. They are well worth the money and to be honest, I’d have expected these to cost a fair bit more.

I don’t want to keep referring to them but for comparison I paid £130 for my AirPods, I’d love to compare an Edifier device of comparable price, Edifier may just make me change my loyalty from Apple to Edifier!

Time will tell.

Verdict & Summary

We really enjoyed taking a look at the Edifier TWS5’s. We were sent these earbuds in exchange for an honest review.

If you need an even bigger battery life than the TWS1’s, aren’t too concious about your budget yet don’t want to spend a small fortune, the Edifier TWS5’s may just be the earbuds for you.

You should definitely give them a shot. I’d happily put my hand in my pocket and buy a pair with my own money.

Final Rating: 9/10
