What Is PS Plus?

What is PS Plus? PlayStation Plus is an online subscription service for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4, enabling the online multiplayer experience in addition to some other benefits.

What is PS Plus?

Sony’s PlayStation Plus is necessary to play most online multiplayer games on the PlayStation 4, not including the free to play games. When you try to access any online features within a game on the PS4 without a subscription to PlayStation Plus, a message will likely appear explaining the above.

For the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, PlayStation Plus it’s not needed, however PlayStation Plus still provides access to consistent free games and sales. All single player games and local multiplayer games can be played without a subscription to PlayStation Plus as well, since these are not online gaming experiences.

A subscription can be purchased for a monthly, quarterly, or yearly period. If you’d like to try it out for yourself without committing, Sony offers a 14 day free trial on the PlayStation Store, however take note that an automatic monthly subscription will begin once the trial is over.

With a range of other benefits on offer with PlayStation Plus, we’ll cover the details of each in this article.

What is PS Plus? – Free Monthly Games

Each month, several games are added to Sony’s rotating “Instant Game Collection”. These games are only available for free to PS Plus subscribers and any game you download before it’s removed will stay in your library for a year.

In 2014 alone, PlayStation Plus offered over $1,300 worth of games for free to all subscribers. This means that if you’re subscribed for a long time, it can be easy to build up a very large library of games with just the payment of PlayStation Plus.

If you’ve already collected some games this way and then your subscription ends, your games will still be available if you ever choose to restart your subscription to PlayStation Plus.
