FILCO

Top 5 Keyboard Manufacturers in the World
Top 5 Keyboard Manufacturers in the World

First on our list is Filco. They’re first on the list for good reason. They are easily one of the most well-known keyboard manufacturers in the world. Even though their keyboards have become so popular for people across the board, very little is known about the company. All Filco keyboards are produced by the Diatec Corporation of Japan, which is based out of Tokyo.

The company was founded back in 1982 on June 17th, and the keyboard division has an annual turnover of around 40 million yen, which is roughly $373.500. The mechanical keyboards provided by Filco have been prized for years, due to their longevity and the superior experience they provide to users.

Filco keyboards are as sturdy as it gets, which is one of the reasons they’re so well-known, and they are available in many different options. Their most famous line of keyboards is the Majestouch line, from which we’ve chosen our top picks for today!

My Top Picks:

  • Filco Majestouch-2 Skull
  • Filco Ninja Majestouch StingRay Tenkeyless

After much consideration, I went with the Filco Majestouch-2 Skull and the StingRay Tenkeyless for my Filco top picks. Everyone I know who’s owned a keyboard made by Filco has absolutely loved it. They are extremely well built, the build quality of the Japanese brand is outstanding.

Filco keyboards aren’t normally feature rich. They let the typing experience do the talking. I’d not used a Filco before until owning the Majestouch-2 Skull and I was blown away at just how good it is. It’s an extremely high-end keyboard and I don’t think I’ve ever used a keyboard with such a good typing tactile feel.

Pros: Great price for such superb build quality.
Cons: Lack of USB ports and RGB may put some people off.

DUCKY

Ducky is placed 2nd in the list of the best keyboard makers!
Ducky is placed 2nd in the list of the best keyboard makers!

Ducky is another great keyboard manufacturer that has gained the respect of customers all over the world. The company is based in Taiwan and the brand was born in 2008. Their goal continues to be the same to this day: to manufacture mechanical keyboards according to the highest standards, so users can enjoy a superior experience.

They have become one of the top keyboard brands in the world and they’ve gained a very positive reputation. They don’t only design keyboards that are long-lasting and performance-oriented, but also innovative.

What’s more, they offer their keyboards at affordable prices, which is something many users look for. They have won many awards for their products and there’s no reason to believe they won’t continue the upward curve, in terms of improving their keyboards in the future.

My Top Picks:

Ducky came a close 2nd on the list of the best keyboards. It was really tough to settle on just two. But, we eventually settled on the One 2 Mini and the Rainbow White.

The One 2 Mini is absolutely fantastic. It’s very compact and lightweight, but the build quality leaves a lasting impression that no corners were cut and no compromises where made in the design and build.

The entire body of the keyboard is made from plastic, but it’s really solid and there’s only minimal flex in the body when you try to twist it.

The RGB lighting isn’t the most refined on the market, but it’s adequate and looks good. The white back plate behind the keys helps with the brightness.

Pros: Great price point.
Cons: Better RGB keyboards on the market.

VARMILO

Varmilo is another well-known brand in the keyboard world, but very little information can be found about the company itself. We can say they’re based in China and they’re well-known for using Gateron Switches. Varmilo keyboards offer the highest quality in almost every aspect and it’s clear to us that they constantly strive to provide the best user experience possible.

All Varmilo keyboards offer an amazing typing experience thanks to their dye-sub PBT keycaps in SS2 profile, which is great not just for work, but also for gaming. They offer limited lighting options when it comes to keyboard back-light, but they make up for that in overall quality.

Varmilo keyboards also stand out among many because they have great quality stabilizers right out of the box, which is not something all keyboards on the market offer. This makes the keys feel a lot firmer and well-seated, so they don’t rattle as much as other keyboards.

Top Picks:

  • Varmilo VA108M Panda
  • Varmilo VA87M Sakura.

One of the reasons we chose the Panda was that if you buy it you’ll get an exclusive Panda stuffed animal with your order, a neat touch. We also really love the Panda icons on the keys.

The Panda is one of the very few keyboards on the market right now with the option of Cherry MX silent black switches. The option of having the black switches means this keyboard is a super silent, it’s probably quieter than some membrane keyboards.

The reason the switches are so quiet is because they are built with internal dampeners.

If we compare these switches to the silent red switches, the black silent switches have an actuation force that is a little on the heavier side. It may take you a few days or so to get used to it.

Pros: Superior Cherry MX Black Silent Switches.
Cons: No USB-C, it relies on micro USB.

LEOPOLDOne of the Top Keyboard Manufacturers

Leopold is another amazing keyboard manufacturer and they’re based in Korea. They specialize in keyboards and products related to keyboards, and they entered the market back in 2006. Since then, they have been selling their products, as well as third-party products very successfully.

Leopold keyboards truly stand out because they cater to a very specific niche: users who want their mechanical keyboards to have a truly retro aesthetic. Some keyboard models from Leopold are very colorful, but they have many black and gray keyboard options as well.

Something that is very unique about Leopold keyboards is that the designs are two-toned, so the keyboard offers a beautiful contrast. Another interesting thing about Leopold keyboards is that they offer different and interesting layouts that users love.

My Top Picks:

Leopold’s entire range could have been a part of the Top Picks. I eventually settled on the FC900R PD and the FC750R.

The Leopold FC900R PD might look like your typical mechanical keyboard – but once you’re able to look at one in the flesh you’ll immediately fall in love with it. Silence is the name of the game with the FC900R (Cherry MX Silent Red switches), it’ll open up a brand new world of silent mechanical keyboards.

Leopold makes some premium high-end keyboard that looks and feel amazing right out of the box. You won’t need to do anything to it, no mod’s are required.

Pros: All about the typing experience.
Cons: Lack of extra features may put people off.

DAS

Last but not least, we have Das Keyboards, a company founded in 2005 and it was born out of the founder’s, Daniel Guermeur, personal mission to improve his own typing experience in terms of accuracy and speed. Shortly after, he accomplished his goal and after having friends and colleagues test his keyboard, a business was born.

These are super precise thanks to the individually weighted keys, so it’s no wonder it was a hit once it was introduced to the market. Das Keyboards are often called the BMW of the keyword industry and they offer a ton of value.

Yes, they are a bit pricier than other options, but they will be worth every penny. Not just in terms of how much these keyboards improve typing speed, but also in terms of comfort and overall user satisfaction.

My Top Picks:

  • Das Keyboard 4
  • Das Keyboard Model S

Buy From The Keyboard Co:

Buy From Amazon:

For DAS’s top picks we went with the Das Keyboard 4 and the Model S. Two fantastic options.

The features found in the Das Keyboard Model S Professional are quite slim. It’s pretty much all about the typing. The body is made of a fairly solid plastic outer shell and a solid steel plate to give this keyboard added strength. But, that added strength does add significant weight to it.

The Das Model S is a true typists keyboard. This is a keyboard that is built to do one job. You won’t find any fancy RGB lighting or gaming macro keys. It’s lacking any style at all in my opinion, but it’s a great keyboard by one of the best keyboard makers in the world.

Pros: Cherry MX Blue Switches
Cons: A little ugly. Uses USB 2.0

Top 5 Keyboard Manufacturers Final Words

All of these top 5 keyboard manufacturers have one thing in common: they care about providing users with the best typing experience money can buy. These keyboard manufacturers truly stand out from the rest, not just in terms of quality, but also in terms of how much they impact user experience.

Whether you use your keyboard for work, your studies, or gaming, these top 5 keyboard manufacturers will have the perfect option for you. They’re all guided by super high standards, so you won’t be disappointed.

Each keyboard manufacturer on the list will cater to someone out there, so you’ll be able to find a keyboard that won’t only suit your every need and improve your typing experience by a thousand, but that’s also aesthetically pleasing.
