Playing on the go: the new Nintendo switch OLED

Nintendo’s Nintendo Switch has been a big success, so much so that the OLED edition was introduced earlier this year. The Nintendo Switch OLED model, while comparable in many aspects, has several noticeable changes that will enhance the experience of owning one.

Even if you currently possess a Switch or Switch Lite, the new OLED model may be worth upgrading to. Nintendo, on the other hand, is definitely aiming for new consumers rather than old ones. Some gamers believe that the advances achieved aren’t worth the money it costs to “swap” their old system for a new one, or even to expand their family.

The OLED model is definitely the way to go for anyone who doesn’t currently own a Switch and wants one. You can play your favourite games in glorious 720p, they look fantastic on that new screen.

We’ve compiled this helpful guide that covers all you need to know about the Nintendo Switch OLED. If you’re thinking about getting one, have a look at the information below.

What is the Nintendo Switch OLED?

The Nintendo Switch OLED is the latest addition to the Switch range. It is the family’s newest video gaming system, coming in three modes of play. As a handheld portable, on a tabletop, or docked and linked to a TV for a more relaxing experience. It also has many enhancements over the original model.

It is extremely similar to the original model in that it plays all of the same games. There are, nevertheless, some distinct visual distinctions. In addition, there will be a few minor changes that will renew the system and improve it overall.

Nintendo Switch OLED features

The most notable new feature, or at least the most remarkable one, is an OLED screen to the console. The screen is also somewhat larger, but only marginally.

The larger screen, which is 7 inches and uses an OLED panel, gives you an extra screen area for your favorite games. Because the console now has an OLED display, the colors are brighter, more vibrant, and the blacks are deeper.

That means you should have a better visual experience overall. With a resolution of 1280 x 720p, the display is also a multi-touch capacitive touchscreen.

A bigger kickstand has been added to the rear, in addition to the new OLED screen. The kickstand on the original Switch had a little piece that could be propped up in the back left corner. It supported the console well, although there were worries about its fragility.

The kickstand on the new OLED model is almost as big as the Switch itself. The kickstand may be adjusted as well. Overall, it’s a significant improvement over the kickstand on the previous generation.

Wired LAN is now also supported by the dock. When the console is docked, you can opt to hardwire the console to your home internet rather than depending on Wi-Fi. This will provide considerably more stable connectivity for online gaming, as well as significantly quicker downloads of games and other information.

There’s also 64GB of internal storage, improved audio, and a new color option.

Games compatibility

All of the games that have been released so far are compatible. Because this is largely the same console with a few additional features and updated components. You can connect it to your Nintendo account and re-download any titles you’ve purchased onto the game’s greater internal storage.

You can also use all of your old Switch game cards, as well as any new ones you pick up for the normal Switch. From wherever you are, the freedom to enjoy your favourite games is right with you, which makes the new Nintendo OLED switch the ideal companion even when you are out on a date night. Three distinct gaming modes

You can play your games in 3 different modes, just like on the original Switch. There are three modes: TV, handheld, and tabletop.

  • TV mode

To use the Switch OLED in TV mode, place it in the dock as indicated in the image above. While using HDMI to connect the console to your TV. You can then control your games using the Joy-Con and the controller grip that comes with it. You can also use the wired LAN connector on the dock to connect the Switch OLED to the internet in this mode, but you can still connect it to Wi-Fi if you want. However, if you need a more stable connection, the LAN port is available. You’ll probably receive higher download speeds because it’s hardwired.

  • Handheld mode

You can separate the Joy-Con from the controller grip and hook them onto the edges of the Switch OLED display while in handheld mode. Giving you a portable console that allows you to play your games on the move. The Switch OLED is now battery-operated and will need to be charged from time to time in this mode.

  • Tabletop mode

Tabletop mode allows you to remove the Switch OLED from the dock, prop out the kickstand, and place it on a flat surface so you can play without holding it. You can play games alone or with a pal in this manner. You’ll each have your own Joy-Con controller.
