How to Use Wing in Tears of the Kingdom

One of the best features of Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the massive array of Zonai Devices at your disposal. The most useful device in the game is actually one of the simplest Zonai Devices you can find: the Wing.

Here’s a guide and video on how to use the Wing in Tears of The Kingdom

  1. Head to Great Sky Island.
  2. Complete the Ascend shrine.
  3. Use Ultrahand to place the Wing on the runway.
  4. Run and jump onto the wing after you put it into the runway.
  5. To fly straight, stand in the centre.
  6. To fly left, stand over the left wing.
  7. To fly right, stand over the right wing.
  8. To pitch the nose down, stand at the front.
  9. To pitch the nose up, stand at the back.

It does become easier to control the wing later in the game. You’ll get another Zonai device ‘the control stick’ which you can use to precisely control the Wing.

The game lets you unleash the full potential of your creativity and create jaw-dropping machines to get from point A to point B.

You first encounter Zonai Wings when you complete the Ascend Shrine in the Great Sky Island, on your way to the Temple of Time. At first glance, they may look a bit daunting to even attempt to maneuver, but all you really need is a little bit of gravity and a destination.

To take off with a Zonai Wing, you need to find a runway. Search for these sloped stretches of land that you can use, and place the Wing on it using the Ultrahand ability. The wing will slot into the track and begin to move toward the edge, quickly jump onto the Wing, and voila! You’re flying.

But you don’t encounter these runways everywhere in the game. Another excellent method to take flight is to add a fan attachment to the back of the Wing and use Ultrahand to move it off a cliff, and then bring it back. Next, get on the wing and use Recall, and once the glider is off the cliff again, deactivate it. Just like that, you’re in the air.

How To Steer The Wing

It’s pretty straightforward to control the Wing while in the air. To move left, stand on the left wing. To move right, stand on the right wing. Stand on the nose of the Wing to dive, and stand on the tail to angle it upward.

There are a million and one ways to power and fly a Wing. You could attach more fans and power them using a Zonai charge or battery while in the air. You could even add a control stick and turn the whole thing into a makeshift airplane!
