How to Respec Your Character in Dark Souls 3

Here’s How to Respec Your Character in Dark Souls 3. The Dark Souls series is synonymous with difficult fights and terrifying bosses but mixed in with all that is an intricate leveling system. Early on in the game you might find yourself putting your levels into the wrong areas until you become familiar with the layout.

One of the most important parts of the game is building a character with the stats you’ll need to fight effectively. You may spend lots of time and effort building out your player spec with your skill points, only to realise you need to start a fresh because it isn’t working for you or your gaming strategy.

What does respec your character I hear you ask? Well, the answer is simple. Respeccing your Dark Souls 3 characters means resetting all of the player stats back to zero, but still keeping a hold of the levels that you’ve added up as you’ve played the game.

You’ll be able to respec them, putting those skill points into whatever stat you want. This will basically allow you to take your character that you’ve grown to be a pretty prominent opponent for any foe and recreate them in a way, not losing any levels or stats, but completely re-defining the way in which they play in Dark Souls 3.

The good news it, there is a way to do it. The key thing to remember is to make sure you don’t panic! I’m here to help you learn how to respec your character so you can reinvest all those skill points where they really matter. So read on below for our comprehensive guide on how to respec your character in Dark Souls 3.

Before you can respec though, you’re going to need to do some things first.

Step One: The Pale Tongue

So first off you’re going to need a pale tongue. There are a few ways to earn this item in game:

  • Exploring the world thoroughly.
  • Invading other people’s worlds and defeating them whilst covenantless or as part of Rosaria’s Fingers.
  • 5% chance to drop when defeating a Darkwraith.

Once you have your hands on a pale tongue it’s time for step 2.

Step 2: Cathedral of the Deep

The next step is fairly simple, you have to reach the Cathedral of the Deep. The Cathedral can be located by following one of the paths on the Road of Sacrifices.

Once you have reached the Cathedral then the fun begins.

What next?

Now that you’re inside the Cathedral you need to find Rosaria’s Bed Chamber. Now this can be a bit tricky if you’re going in blind. Don’t worry though we’re here with exactly how to find it.

First you’ll want to find the Cleansing Chapel bonfire and from there take a left to the elevator for a shortcut up the tower. Once you exit the elevator head towards the guy with the huge sword and pass him out onto the balcony. Then follow the balcony left to find a ladder, climb the ladder.

You can then find a hole in the wall where you can jump onto a rooftop below. Once you’ve done that, follow the roof up, take a right and either fight or avoid all the enemies in your path. At your first chance take a left down a corridor which will lead you to an area in the ceiling of the Cathedral. If you look north from here you will notice a ledge that you can reach, jump onto it. When you’re there you can jump down again to the second floor of the Cathedral.

At this point you want to turn left to look for a door in the far right corner of the room. Enter through the door, follow the stairs up, take another left, look for a grand door that is closed and behind it you will find Rosaria. There will also be a bonfire in the room so you can fast travel there in the future. Now simply select reallocate attributes when talking to her and you’re all done.

Be careful though as you can only respec a maximum of 5 times in a play-through so think carefully before you do.
