To make a Potion of Weakness, you need 1 x Blaze Power, 1 x Water Bottle and 1 x Fermented Spider Eye and brew it up using a brewing stand.
If you need a more detailed helping hand, here’s the full useful guide on how to make the Potion Of Weakness in Minecraft. It’s one of the simplest potions in the game to create. Drink the potion of weakness at your peril because doing so will reduce your attack damage by 4 points for up to 4 minutes! I don’t recommend that.
If you accidentally drink it, drinking a bucket of cow milk will restore your natural self, if you don’t have cows milk, you just need to wait 1.5 minutes until the effect wears off.
Alternatively, it can also be used to throw at Creepers, Mobs and other players to help fight them off. One of the best uses of this particular potion is to complete in game achievements or advancements. Which I’ll also detail in this article.
So, how do you create the weakness potion? Well, once you’ve got a brewing stand sorted, go ahead and open it and then check the video guide below or you can read the below step-by-step guide.
If you don’t have a brewing stand, you can craft one or find one in an end ship, the basement of igloos or in village churches. But, as you’re reading this article we’ll assume you already have one.
Creating A Weakness Potion In Minecraft
Here’s the step by step, don’t worry, there’s only three steps! Refer to the video if you get stuck.
The first step is to ensure you have the required raw materials to craft this potion. It’s not a complex potion, it only contains these two ingredients (three if you include blaze powder):
- 1 Water Bottle
- 1 Fermented Spider Eye
You can make up to three potions at a time by adding three water bottles to your brewing stand.
The second step is to light your brewing stand using Blaze Powder. Drag and drop your blaze powder in the very right hand side box in your brewing stand, it should look like the below image:
In the brewing stand menu drag and drop your water bottle into one of the bottom boxes, or all three if you’re making 3 potions at a time. Then add your fermented spider eye into the top box.
Once the potion creation process if finished you’ll hear three “glugs”. The spider eye will disappear and The water bottles in the bottom boxes will change colour from blue to purple, that’s when you know it’s ready.
If you don’t want to drink it, you can turn it into a splash potion. Which basically makes this a throwable potion of weakness.
You just need to follow the above 3 steps again but add in some gun powder. Find and Kill a creeper, that’s the easiest way to obtain some gunpowder. If you’re new to the game, here’s what a creeper looks like:
What Else Can The Potion Of Weakness Do
These are the top 3 uses for the Potion Of Weakness in Minecraft. It’s not reccomended to use on your self, as it’ll limit your damage levels.
Use Potion Of Weakness Against Enemies
One of the best ways to use it, is against an enemy. Enemies can either mean fellow human players or mobs. You’ll need to change this into a ‘splash’ potion so it can be thrown at enemies though, as humans and mobs won’t drink a potion if your inventory.
It can cure Zombie Villagers
Yes, you read that correctly. It can cure a Zombie Villager. All you need to do is splash the affected villager with the potion. Once you’ve done that, right click on the villager with the golden apple. The particles will change colour, from Grey to Red.
The Villager will begin to wiggle, wait a short while and they’ll heal in no time! This is also an advancement, detailed below.
Advancements & Achievements
I touched on this earlier in the article. But the potion can be used to complete achievements. Cure a zombie villager and you’ll unlock an achievement. A full list of achievements can be found here.
Another one is the “A Furious Cocktail.” You’ll need to have every single potion effect applied. This includes the Weakness Potion, Jump Boost, Regeneration amongst others.
