As per title, does anyone have any tips on speeding up my pc or improving graphics?  I use my computer for gaming and most games play well with my settings turned to low graphics.i don't plan on buying any more hardware if possible.

So any tips relating to that would be great.

Does having multiple games installed slow my computer down?

thanks.

Do you have an SSD installed? I know you said you don'y want to buy any more hardware, but storing your games on an SSD will help load them quicker.

Also, how much RAM do you have? 8GB should be fine. However if you only have a single stick of ram it'll only be a single channel. So upgrading to two sticks of RAM can utilise dual channel memory, you should see a significant performance increase.

For example this kit here from Corsair is only 8GB but it's 2x4gb sticks of ram.

You could also just do general stuff such as utilising the disk cleanup utility, keeping the game up to date as soon as the latest updates are available etc

or if you can stretch to it, an SSD

Defrag your machine.  it's a process run on most hard drives to help make accessing the files on that disk faster. Traditionally, it's something you need to do periodically as files on the disk become more and more fragmented over time (hence, the term “defragmenting”).

Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

Post your setup @firegrande and we can offer up some advice.

Remember though you are limited by your hardware.

wow its been 3 months :O 🤐

yes I had a go at routinely running the defrag and disk clean up tools, also I uninstalled a few games I was no longer playing and this seemed to help a lot.

also closing down all my unused programs which open on start-up helped me as well.

I'd also suggest picking up another stickl of ram if you can afford it, dual channel would be best.

Agreed on the dual channel point. I always try to buy RAM sticks in pairs

Yes that's probably a good idea, at the moment I've got just the 1 stick of 8gb ram. Would you say I need to buy the same make of ram or can you mix and match brands? I don't know much about computers I'm afraid x)

@firegrande

It’s not a good idea to mix and match brands.

you should get a 16gb kit from Corsair fairly cheap online.
