Best Pokemon Grading Companies in 2023

If you’re an avid Pokemon card collector or you’ve paid any attention to the scene in recent years you know how important it is to get your cards graded. Whatever the case may be, these are some of the best Pokémon card grading companies you can turn to in 2023.

It’ll not only help keep your cards safe from wear and tear, it’ll do wonders for the value of each individual card you have graded.

The Very Best Pokemon Grading Services in 2023

Trust me, there’s nothing worse than witnessing your cards’ value degrade over time because you didn’t store them properly, or get them graded. Let’s get into the article and check out the ‘big three’.

PSA Grading

PSA – Are they the best grading company for your Pokemon cards?

Right off the bat, we have the gold standard for Pokémon grading services. They are almost a household name at this point, at least with Pokémon collectors. While their name when they first began grading cards back in 1991 was Professional Sports Authenticator, PSA has established itself as a premium Pokémon card grading service; and its reputation is known by all collectors. PSA cards sold on the market are often the most sought-after. So rest assured your PSA-graded cards will sell for the highest prices possible.

The other side of this coin, however, is PSA’s high charges for grading your cards. With a $100 charge per card (or $50 if you’re in their Collectors Club), this is pretty unfeasible for newer collectors. Unless you have a really special card worth thousands or more, it’s not worth getting a PSA grading for it.

Another thing to keep in mind with PSA is their wait times. Due to their sheer popularity, it may take many months just to get your cards graded and returned back to you! But, if you have a bunch of collectible Charizard cards it may be worth the wait.

CGC Grading

Some collectors consider CGC to be superior to PSA for a number of reasons. The first is that it’s considerably cheaper at $35 per card. What’s more, CGC accepts bulk orders that only charge $15 per card! This makes it very accessible for even novice collectors, and they don’t suffer from ludicrous wait times like PSA.

The second factor is that they tend to have a much stricter grading system, and as a result, almost never give out perfect 10s. This makes receiving a CGC 10 grading more valuable than PSA! With over 20 years in the industry, CGC is a solid choice (and my personal favorite) to get your Pokémon cards graded.

BGC Grading

BGC is the grandfather of Pokemon grading companies.

Next up we have what many collectors consider the grandfather of grading companies. Being founded in 1984, this makes Beckett Grading the oldest grading company on our list; and with a lot of experience in the industry, comes a lot of reputation among collectors.

Funnily enough, BGC is also one of the cheapest grading companies out there! A standard BGC grading will net you $30 per card—a perfectly reasonable amount especially if you have a particularly rare card. As a cherry on top, I’d say BGC has the coolest-looking labels from all the companies out there!

Send over the best Pikachu cards in your collection and the grades you get may just surprise you!
